Darren Oberst, senior corporate vice of HCL Technologies’ software and products unit, has resigned from the company. The Noida-based IT services company announced Monday that he has “decided to leave HCL Technologies to pursue another opportunity.”

“The interim leadership will take over this week and, in parallel, the company will candidates internally and externally to lead this segment,” the company’s BSE filing read. “With the change, HCL also plans to align its entire suite of products and platforms allowing for greater synergies.”

Oberst was a founding member of the team. He was responsible for the division’s product development, sales, operations, and strategy, accounting for 11-12 percent of the company’s almost $10 billion in yearly revenue. He joined HCL Technologies as head of corporate development in 2014 and moved to HCL Software in 2016.

HCL Tech products & platforms (P&P) division claimed revenue growth of 8% for the September quarter and 5.5 percent for the year. P&P growth was harmed throughout the quarter by delays in closing certain deals.

“We had one very large contract that slipped and then a number of other small to mid-sized deals so it was a handful,” Oberst had stated during the earnings presentation. “None of those deals have yet closed. They are all works in progress. None of them has been lost either. So, we are still working on them.”
