Tecno has launched the Camon 50 Ultra smartphone in India at ₹39,999, featuring a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 700C main camera with optical image stabilisation — a technology that compensates for hand movement to reduce blur in photographs. The device will go on sale from 21 July exclusively on Amazon.
The company is offering a ₹3,000 discount for the first two days of sale, bringing the effective launch price to ₹36,999. The smartphone is available in three colour variants: Nebula Titanium, Cypress Green and Misty Purple.
The Camon 50 Ultra is positioned as a camera-focused device for content creators and photography enthusiasts. Its triple rear camera system includes the 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom and an 8MP ultra-wide macro lens. The front camera is a 50MP autofocus unit designed for selfies and video calls.
Camera features and AI capabilities
The device introduces a Motion Capture feature that the company says can detect fast-moving subjects and capture them with reduced blur. The camera system supports 4K video recording at 30 frames per second and includes AI Auto Zoom for automatic subject tracking during video capture.
The smartphone runs on Google Gemini for voice assistance and includes what Tecno calls its proprietary AI tools for image editing and productivity tasks. The company has not disclosed which processor powers the device.
Arijeet Talapatra, chief executive officer, Tecno Mobile India, said the device was designed for users who want both camera capability and creative tools in a single device.
“With the Tecno Camon 50 Ultra, we have brought together our imaging experience, intelligent AI capabilities and premium design to create a smartphone that empowers users to capture every detail, every emotion and every story with confidence,” Talapatra said.
Battery and durability specifications
The Camon 50 Ultra houses a 6500mAh battery in a body that measures 7.75mm in thickness. The company has not specified the charging speed or whether fast charging is supported.
The device carries MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification, a United States military standard for equipment durability that tests resistance to environmental conditions including temperature extremes, humidity and mechanical shock.
It also holds IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance — IP68 indicates the device can withstand submersion in fresh water beyond one metre depth, while IP69 adds protection against high-pressure water jets.
