Tarun Bajaj takes charge of Economic Affairs Secretary

Senior officer Tarun Bajaj has taken charge of new economic affairs secretary today. Bajaj, a 1988 batch IAS officer, replaces Atanu Chakraborty, who retired on Thursday. He was earlier working at the Prime Minister’s Office as additional secretary in PMO.

“Shri Tarun Bajaj takes over as the new secretary, of Economic Affairs (DEA), here today after superannuation of Shri Atanu Chakraborty on 30.04.2020,” the finance ministry said in a tweet.

Bajaj has also worked as joint secretary in the economic affairs department where he was incharge for multilateral agencies division before joining the PMO in 2015.

He has also worked as joint secretary and director in the for over four years looking after the insurance division. He is also credited with some of the major reforms in the sector over the past many years.

MeitY, UP to Set Up Three AI Centres Under IndiaAI Mission
