The Mandate
India is racing toward a trillion-dollar digital economy — but the workforce that must defend, govern and deploy AI for it is still being built.

The country produces over 1.5 million engineering graduates each year, yet enterprises consistently report critical shortages in cyber resilience, data protection and AI governance skills. The gap between what universities teach and what industry urgently needs has become a national capability question.

The Saksham Bharat 2026, under the Veeam Bharat CyberSuraksha Initiative, brings together university deans, faculty heads, enterprise CIOs and CISOs, HR leaders and policy bodies for a focused morning of dialogue — to co-create a practical roadmap for a capable, resilient, future-ready Bharat.

Narrative Pillars

Five truths shaping
India's capability question

The conversation will be anchored by the realities every stakeholder in the room is already navigating.

📈

Digital Growth vs Skill Readiness

India's digital economy is scaling faster than the talent pipeline — leaving critical gaps in cyber, AI and data roles.

🛡️

Cyber Resilience as a Core Skill

Backup, recovery and ransomware readiness are no longer niche — they are foundational competencies for every IT graduate.

🤖

Safe AI & Responsible Innovation

India is at an inflection point — building AI users vs. AI creators. Ethical, secure and accountable deployment must be taught.

🤝

Industry × Academia Collaboration

Co-created curricula, internship pipelines and industry-led labs are needed at scale — not as one-off pilots.

Programme Themes

What the room will discuss

Five moderated themes designed to surface tangible commitments — not generic observations.

01
The Skills Gap Reality

Are universities aligned with industry demand? Where is the biggest gap today — AI, Cybersecurity, Data, or Cloud?

02
Cyber Resilience as Core Curriculum

Should backup, recovery and ransomware readiness be taught as foundational subjects? How do we embed real-world scenarios into learning?

03
Safe AI & Responsible Innovation

Are we building AI users or AI creators? How do we ensure ethical and secure AI adoption is a curriculum mandate, not an afterthought?

04
Industry-Academia Collaboration Models

Co-created curricula, internship pipelines, certification programs — what models work, and how do we scale them across India's universities?

05
From Learning to Employability

How do we create job-ready talent at scale? What is the role of platforms, labs and simulation environments in closing the deployability gap?
