MWC Barcelona and announced a collaboration aimed at simplifying the process for telecommunications service providers to adopt and manage deployments across environments.

According to a statement, the partnership leverages Tech Mahindra's Multi-mode Companion Cloud with Red Hat OpenShift on Amazon Web Services (AWS), supporting a range of network use cases, including Radio Access Network (RAN), edge computing, transport, and 5G core, enhancing capabilities in hybrid cloud settings with integrated automation and orchestration.

As the telecom industry moves towards hybrid cloud to facilitate more reliable 5G services, there is a growing decentralisation of compute resources and data across various environments, from core datacenters to the edge and the cloud.

Red Hat said that this shift has prompted service providers to seek solutions that minimise the complexity associated with managing workloads across these different settings.

Tech Mahindra's offering aims to ease the transition of on-premises workloads to hybrid cloud environments, incorporating Red Hat OpenShift both on-premises and on AWS. The IT consulting firm said that this approach is designed to enhance scalability, expedite cloud migrations, and simplify the management of 5G services through a centralised orchestrator and integrated automation.

Red Hat OpenShift provides a consistent layer for infrastructure and applications, facilitating operations across any cloud, while Tech Mahindra's netOps.ai delivers a unified view for managing infrastructure and automating applications. Additionally, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes offers comprehensive cloud lifecycle management, automating initial configurations and orchestrating workloads across Red Hat OpenShift clusters.

The collaboration between Red Hat and Tech Mahindra is focused on delivering automation across hybrid cloud environments, streamlining cloud lifecycle management, and enabling intelligent workload placement. This partnership is expected to reduce manual operations and network inefficiencies by integrating with existing systems, improving synchronisation across hybrid clouds, said the company.

To complement their offering, Tech Mahindra and Red Hat have also engaged with i2i systems and Rebaca. i2i systems' 5G Core Network, integrated with Tech Mahindra's solution on Red Hat OpenShift on AWS, aims to support a redundant 5G core network for high-speed, low-latency connectivity.

While Rebaca's ABot, a cloud-native continuous test assurance and analysis solution, is designed to optimise the verification and sizing of telco workloads on various platforms by executing compliant test scenarios and analysing real-time Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
