announced a new Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services, Inc. (). This agreement highlights the ongoing relationship between Cloudera and AWS and their joint efforts to enhance cloud native data management and data analytics on the AWS platform. Cloudera said that it aims to use various AWS services to bring ongoing innovation and reduced costs to its customers by implementing its open data lakehouse on AWS tailored for enterprise generative .

As part of the AWS Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Workload Migration Program (WMP), and having a Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) Public Cloud listing on AWS Marketplace, Cloudera offers its customers the possibility to utilize credits for transitioning workloads to the cloud and for acquiring CDP on AWS.

Cloudera said that its data lakehouse is designed to operate on AWS, supporting crucial components of the CDP. These components include data movement, data lake house, data warehousing, operational databases, AI/machine learning, master data management, and security.

Company stressed that by operating on AWS, customers can transition to CDP on the cloud without having to modify their applications. This also aids in supporting hybrid models. Cloudera has designed the CDP to directly integrate with multiple AWS services like Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). This direct integration allows customers to benefit from AWS services without having to handle the integration themselves.

Paul Codding, Executive Vice President, Product Management, Cloudera, said that deepening collaboration with AWS gives customers even more reasons to choose to run the Cloudera Data Platform on AWS.

“With tighter hardware and AWS service integration, customers get the best possible experience with strong security and governance, along with new cost reduction options to support their most critical analytical workloads,” said Paul.

An insight into the practical application of this collaboration was provided by David Wroe, Principal Software Engineer & Solution Architect for . He shared how transitioning to CDP Public Cloud on AWS brought significant cost savings and reduced infrastructure maintenance expenses for their organisation.

“Our move to CDP Public Cloud on AWS for Be The Match's search and match platform has resulted in significant cost savings for the organisation and a reduction in the infrastructure maintenance expense measured in millions of dollars. As a non-profit, this affords us tremendous operational flexibility that was not previously possible,” said Wroe.

Furthermore, AWS and Cloudera have planned to jointly work on marketing and co-selling initiatives for their customer base.

“Cloudera has strengthened their collaboration with AWS for shared customers to leverage their existing investments in CDP and accelerate their modernisation to the cloud” said Chris Grusz, General Manager, Technology Partnerships and Marketplace at AWS.
