Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani has said his group is working with authorities for providing technology tools and backbone for mass vaccination against -19.

Expressing his views at a event recently, Ambani praised the Central government’s digital push saying that it kept the country running even during the pandemic, and is now helping in the rollout of one of the largest vaccination programmes.

If Covid-19 had struck about four or five years ago, we would not have been in a better condition as we are in at the moment, with all the connectivity being there, PTI quoted Ambani as saying.

Speaking further, he also gave credit to the Prime Minister ‘s Digital India vision, for this must go where he motivated the entire industry to roll out broadband in the five years of his first term.

According to Ambani, this digital push helped transfer cash to bank accounts of 20 crore needy people during the pandemic.

When it comes to rolling out one of the largest vaccine programmes in the first half of 2021, India is now ready and pretty much at par with the world, PTI quoted Ambani.

Technology has also played a crucial role in delivering health services. In this regard, Ambani’s group is working closely with all the authorities to ensure that the technology tools and backbone for even vaccination are being provided suitably in the coming quarters.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Modi had spoken of using mobile technology for mass inoculation against COVID-19.

Ambani’s telecom venture Jio was rolled out four years back that offered free voice calling and dirt-cheap data. Currently, it is India’s largest telecom operator with over 400 million users, each connected with the internet.
