CAT 2017 Results set for 2nd week of Jan: Here’s how to check

Like all big examination in India, CAT 2017 results have also come into huge speculation leading to confusion and anxiety among candidates – thanks to some of the online portals who reported that results would be announced on January 5, 2018. However, after making an enquiry with IIM-Lucknow which is a nodal institutes to organise this year CAT examination, has become clear that as planned earlier, the CAT 2017 results will be announced in the second week of January, 2018.

CAT 2017 test was conducted in November, 2017 in which over 2.31 lakh candidates had appeared. The test was held in two sessions of 180 minutes each with three sections. Section – I had verbal ability and reading comprehension; section – II had data interpretation and logical reasoning and section – III dealt with quantitative ability. Now, all the candidates are awaiting the results. Once announced, CAT 2017 results will be made available at iimcat.ac.in.

All the candidates who qualify the CAT 2017 may have to appear for Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and some of the B-School may have their own criteria to select the candidates. According to CAT 2017 rules, “The list of candidates shortlisted for the next level of selection will be made available on the website of the respective IIMs. Each IIM will send interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly. The criteria for shortlisting vary from IIM to IIM.”

As per rules, each IIM shortlists candidates for second stage of selection which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). Performance in CAT 2017 examination is an important component in the process. IIMs may additionally use other factors like previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs.

Steps to check CAT 2017 Results

Step 1: Go to official website of CAT 2017 at iimcat.ac.in
Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link that says CAT scores 2017. The link will be activated in second week of January
Step 3: Now enter your user ID and password
Step 4: Press Login
Step 5: Your scorecard will appear on the screen
Step 6: Check the same and take a print out of the scorecard for future references.
