CSC e-Governance Services India Limited (CSC SPV) and Fortinet have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster the security of networks and systems that provide government services through Common Service Centres (CSCs) in rural regions.
The collaboration is intended to improve the cybersecurity resilience of CSCs, which serve as access points for various Government to Citizen (G2C), Business to Customer (B2C), and Business to Business (B2B) services in rural areas.
“At CSC, we are committed to enhancing the security, privacy, reliability, and integrity of the computing environment. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to enhancing the cybersecurity landscape in rural India, ensuring a secure and resilient digital future for all citizens,” said Sanjay Rakesh, Managing Director and CEO of CSC SPV.
By incorporating cybersecurity solutions, the initiative seeks to mitigate cyber threats and enhance the security of e-governance services, said a statement.
According to the MoU, Fortinet will assist in the design and implementation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions, with a focus on cybersecurity and network security. This collaboration is anticipated to strengthen CSC SPV’s capacity to deliver secure ICT infrastructure and related services to government departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and rural banking sectors.
The partnership also places emphasis on cybersecurity workforce development. Fortinet will conduct periodic user training programs and provide resources to enhance the skills and knowledge of CSC SPV’s workforce, enabling them to address the evolving challenges of the cyber landscape.
In addition, the collaboration aims to deliver optimised and centralized management solutions for ICT infrastructure. This effort is expected to improve the overall cybersecurity posture of rural India, ensuring that essential government services are delivered securely and efficiently, said the company.
The MoU also includes the promotion of best practices in cybersecurity. Both the organisations will work together to exchange information, develop joint advisories, and conduct technical presentations. Workshops and knowledge exchange sessions are planned to refine the strategic approach to cybersecurity in rural areas.
Vishak Raman, Vice President of Sales for India, SEA, and ANZ at Fortinet, said, “Combating cybercrime requires widespread collaboration, transparency, and accountability beyond individual organisations, and our collaboration with CSC reflects Fortinet’s commitment to enhancing cyber resilience in India.”
