GURUGRAM — Samsung has begun sales of its Galaxy M17 5G smartphone in India, offering features such as a 50MP OIS triple camera, Gorilla Glass Victus protection and AI tools, the company said on Monday.
The base variant (4 GB RAM + 128 GB) is priced at ₹12,499, while the 6/128 GB and 8/128 GB models are priced at ₹13,999 and ₹15,499 respectively.
The phone is available through Amazon, Samsung’s official site and select retail outlets. Samsung is offering up to three months of no-cost EMI via participating banks and NBFCs.
Samsung Galaxy M17 5G Design, Camera and Durability
Samsung markets the M17 5G as introducing the “No Shake Camera” in the ₹10,000–₹15,000 segment, thanks to the 50MP OIS triple-lens setup, which includes ultra-wide and macro lenses. The front camera is 13MP. The phone is 7.5 mm slim and uses Gorilla Glass Victus for drop resistance, along with an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.
Available in Moonlight Silver and Sapphire Black, the design includes a camera deco finish.
The device is powered by the Exynos 1330 chipset, built on a 6 nm process. It runs Android 15 with One UI 7 out of the box. Samsung says it will support six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
Performance, AI and Software
AI capabilities include Circle to Search with Google, Gemini Live for visual conversations, On-device Voice Mail, and Voice Focus for improved call clarity. Security features include Knox Vault and Tap & Pay via Samsung Wallet.
The display is a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of 1,100 nits.
The Galaxy M17 5G builds on the success of the Galaxy M16 5G, one of Samsung’s stronger sellers in the Indian mid-range segment. Its feature set positions it to compete in the ₹12,000–₹16,000 bracket, combining AI tools, camera enhancements and durability.
According to media reports, the M17’s launch price aligns with expectations. Some analysts noted that the M17 uses many of the same components as prior M-series devices, but adds improved imaging and AI features to differentiate.
Samsung Galaxy M17 5G Outlook
With smartphone competition intensifying in India, manufacturers continue to push AI, camera, and longevity as key differentiators. Samsung’s emphasis on OS update longevity and security may appeal to buyers looking for future-proof devices in the mid-range.
