Huawei Honor introduces ‘Face Unlock’ feature to ‘View 10’ smartphone

Chinese smartphone brand Honor which is a Huawei brand has announced the roll-out of a software update that will bring ‘Face Unlock’ feature to its “View 10” smartphones.

Chinese smartphone Honor which is a Huawei brand has announced the roll-out of a software update that will bring ‘Face Unlock’ feature to its “View 10” smartphones. The Over-The-Air update will reach all “View 10” devices by January 24, the company said in a statement. To enable the feature, you need to register your face by accessing face-recognition feature in phone settings menu. The Rs 29,999 Honor View 10 detects the positioning between a user and the device and adjusts the direction accordingly.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology not only unlocks the device when sensors recognise your face but also turn off the screen when senses that the users are no longer reading. It also detects users’ position and adjusts the direction accordingly. The update will also enable closed-eye face-unlock prevention and intelligent screen-on. Honor View 10 has octa-core Kirin 970 chipset, 6GB RAM, 128GB on-board memory and EMUI 8.0. The Huawei Honor View 10 runs Android 8.0 and is powered by a 3750mAh non removable battery. It measures 157.00 x 74.98 x 6.97 (height x width x thickness) and weigh 172.00 grams.

The Huawei Honor View 10 is powered by 1.8GHz octa-core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor and it comes with 6GB of RAM. The phone packs 128GB of internal that can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Huawei Honor View 10 packs a 16-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 13-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Huawei Honor View 10 is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, Infrared, USB OTG, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity , Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.
