Homegrown datacenter firm CtrlS Datacenters is making a significant investment in Bihar’s capital, Patna, announcing a Rs 400 crore infusion into a new datacenter within the Pataliputra Industrial Area, near its existing Patna DC1 facility.
The land for the project was recently acquired through the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), a state-government industrial promotion body. According to a senior executive, the new datacenter is designed to support a 10MW IT load capacity and accommodate around 1,000 racks.
“We are committed to developing a robust IT ecosystem in Bihar through our future-ready datacenters, serving hyperscalers, enterprises, and startups,” said CtrlS founder and CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy.
“Together with our ecosystem partners, we will not only bring significant investments to the state but also generate employment opportunities in the region. In response to the market’s demonstrated potential, we are establishing this greenfield datacenter in Patna, for which we have now secured the land,” Pinnapureddy said.

The company said that the new facility is part of the strategy to support the digital transformation of enterprises and hyperscalers. The aim is to provide reliable, scalable, sustainable, and always-available digital infrastructure, along with advanced digital solutions to maintain a competitive edge.
CtrlS has already established Edge datacenters in Lucknow and Patna, complementing its network of 13 datacenters across key cities such as Mumbai, Noida, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. These Edge facilities are integral to the strategy of offering localised data solutions and supporting digital infrastructure needs across India.
The Hyderabad-headquartered firm said that plans are in place to expand the network of hyper-connected datacenters within India and internationally. The goal is to develop over 20 Edge datacenters in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities across India in the coming years.
Bihar IT Policy 2024
This move for expansion aligns with Bihar’s growing IT sector, supported by the state’s new IT Policy 2024, which aims to transform Bihar into a hub for IT, IT-enabled Services (ITeS), and Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM).
The policy offers a range of incentives, such as a 30% subsidy on fixed capital investment up to Rs 30 crore, a 10% interest subvention on loans, a 50% lease rental subsidy, a 25% energy bill reimbursement, and a 100% reimbursement of employer contributions to Employee State Insurance (ESI) and Employee Provident Fund (EPF).
