Dhaka — Bangladesh has improved the National Cyber Security Index of the e-Governance Academy Foundation by 30 points. The country also became the first among the SAARC countries to get 59.74 marks. Bangladesh is followed by India (39th).
The index is based on the cyber security and digital development situation in 160 countries around the world. At the beginning of this year, Bangladesh was ranked 65th on the index.
“We have to go further with this good news,” Tariq M Barkatullah, director (operations) of the Digital Security Agency, a cybersecurity agency of the Bangladesh government, told the Bangla news portal Dhaka Post.

Greece is in the best position with a score of 96.10 in the latest index published on the website of the Estonia-based NCSI. The Czech Republic is in second place with a score of 92.21.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh has improved its cyber security index by 25 steps in the last two years. At present Bangladesh ranks 53rd with a score of 81.27. Earlier in 2018, Bangladesh was ranked 78th.
