OYO hires Amazon.com techie Suvesh Malhotra to head engineering

Suvesh Malhotra will head OYO’s consumer technology including consumer experience, ordering and payment platforms and data analytics

Hotel aggregator has appointed as vice president of engineering. According to a statement from OYO, he will head OYO's consumer technology including consumer experience, ordering and payment platforms and data analytics. “Suvesh prime role would be to design and deliver solution to meet evolving consumer needs,” said OYO.

Suvesh joins OYO from Amazon.com where he was leading technology for BuyVIP, a flash sales e-commerce platform.

A seasoned tech professional with 12 years of experience, Suvesh has experienced in working on large-scale e-commerce platforms, distributed systems, machine learning based systems, mobile apps, social networking platforms and IoT technologies.

He was formerly the CTO of Stepout –a social discovery platform.  He has also worked with homeshop18 and Oracle in the past. Suvesh is an alumni of IIT Guwahati in Computer Science.

“We are thrilled to have Suvesh become a part of our dynamic technology team. His experience across various consumer-facing categories and in-depth understanding of marketplace dynamics and customer needs will further enhance the depth of our technology expertise,” said Anil Goel, CTO – OYO.

Founded in 2013, OYO is one of India's largest hotel network operating 7000 hotels and 70,000 rooms in more than 200 Indian cities. OYO is also present in Malaysia.

STMicro quarterly profit declines by 18.4% owing to slow demand

European chipmaker STMicroelectronics reported net revenues of $3.47 billion, marking an 18.4% decline compared to the same period last year. This downturn was particularly noticeable in the automotive and industrial sectors, although gains in personal electronics provided some balance.
