Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also shared his thoughts, describing the initiative as a game-changer that ensures seamless coordination between various ministries and state governments.
Over 44 central ministries and 36 states and union territories have already been onboarded, and more than 1,600 data layers have been integrated into the system. This cross-sectoral collaboration has allowed for the assessment of 208 infrastructure projects worth Rs 15.39 lakh crore.
The GatiShakti platform uses advanced geospatial technology to streamline planning and execution of large-scale projects, focusing on reducing delays, optimising costs, and improving intermodal logistics. The government is also extending the initiative to the district level, with plans to roll out a District Master Plan portal soon.
According to a government note, PM Modi’s vision behind the GatiShakti Master Plan is to strengthen India’s infrastructure foundation for the next 25 years, aiding the country in its journey towards becoming self-reliant and economically resilient. By integrating data from various stakeholders, the initiative has paved the way for better connectivity across sectors such as roads, railways, urban development, and logistics.
With more than 533 projects mapped on the GatiShakti portal by states and union territories, the initiative is not only revolutionising infrastructure planning but also contributing to social development. The plan includes mapping critical infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, and anganwadi centers, ensuring a holistic approach to national development.
