Xiaomi sets its eye on future offerings as Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 898 launch in Dec

Chinese smartphone major Xiaomi has set its eye on future offerings as plans to announce its next flagship processor 898 in December at the Tech Summit , which is likely to power flagship phones from different brands in 2022.

According to reports, Xiaomi might be the first to use this chipset in its Mi 12 smartphone series. Mi 11 series was the first smartphone series to feature the Snapdragon 888 processor.

The upcoming Snapdragon 898 is claimed to be 15% faster than its predecessor as the single and multi-core Geekbench scores of the Snapdragon 898 was also revealed, where it scored 1200 in single-core and 3900 in multi-cores.

This chipset is expected to be equipped with an Adreno 730 GPU unit for graphics and might also include the Snapdragon X65 5G modem that claims to offer downlink speeds of 10Gbps.

Meanwhile, the reports claim that the standard Xiaomi Mi 12 has model number 2201122G and the Mi 12 Pro carries model number 2201123G. The basic Mi 12 is expected to launch this year whereas the Mi 12 Pro and the Mi 12 Ultra are expected to be released by 2022.

Further, the new devices may come with an LTPO display panel that supports variable refresh rates peaking at 120Hz and might also have a 2K resolution. The reports add that it might also have the first-ever 200MP primary camera sensor in the rear (the Mi 11 has 108MP primary sensor). It is also expected to support 120W fast charging and 100W wireless charging.
