Since December 1, 2016, the day on which HMD Global entered into 10 year brand licencing agreement with Nokia, four high-end Android Nokia have been launched – the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and Nokia 8 and few more are planned before the end of this year but HMD is nowhere near Samsung, Apple or some of its Chinese’s rivals. So far, company has been reluctant to talk about the number but in an interview to an Italian Nokia fan blog Nokioteca, HMD’s Chief Marketing Officer Pekka Rantal said that they have been able to sell over millions of smartphone and about 10 million features phones.

“We are really happy about the sales, we have been selling already millions of Nokia smartphones and tens of millions when it comes to basic Nokia phones,” said HMD’s Chief Marketing Officer Pekka Rantal. Since December 2016, HMD has introduced 9 devices – 5 feature phones and 4 smartphones. The Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 were launched during World Congress (MWC) and Nokia 8 in August. To revie its lost market and loyalty in different geographies, HMD Global, had introduced Nokia 3310 2G in February and a version of Nokia 3310 recently.

Company also plans to reduce the timeframe between announcement and availability of the devices in the market. “It will be shorter in future, as seen with the Nokia 8,” said Pekka Rantal. Rantal said that digital will be the primary platform, “I would dare to say demand is far bigger than supply and there is no point in marketing the devices if they are already selling out quickly.”
