A similar case has been going on for the last several months at the Vasant Oasis complex at Andheri East where the developer has decided to make stack parking in the open space which was not under the plan when buyers purchased from developers and the area was mainly used for citizens walking, children play area and cycling, said the group of protesting residents.

On Monday, Citizens from Vasant Oasis especially kids and women marched in the morning carrying black flags to clear the parking lot. Children between the ages of 5 and 12 took part in the morning march. They made a human chain and Thali Bajao protest also.

Residents said that they are following up with the Maharashtra authorities and the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to prevent stack parking on the site as they claim there is no permission from BMC for this stack parking.

Residents said that the stack parking is dangerous for kids and who play and walk on the podium area. Every Mumbaikar has realized the importance of staying healthy during the last six months of lockdown.

In the last few years, many developers have come forward to provide facilities like playgrounds for children, cycle tracks, jogging tracks and meditation and yoga facilities for senior citizens in the residential complex but now developers are encroaching open spaces of the societies which are more harmful & risky, said the protesting residents in a statement.
