NEW DELHI — Insurtech company Zopper has lauhnched Z-shield, a comprehensive two-year protection plan for Apple’s newly launched iPhone 17 variants. The plan, offered directly via Zopper’s care portal, promises coverage for accidental damage, liquid damage, and mechanical or electrical breakdowns.
Under the Z-shield programme, customers choose their specific iPhone 17 model, submit IMEI, proof of purchase and contact details, pay via a secure gateway, and receive instant activation and invoice emails.
The offering also features home pick-up and delivery services for repairs, screen protection, and hardware failure coverage. Zopper is offering up to 60% discount ahead of the iPhone 17 launch date, and includes a 30-day full refund window for cancellations.
Zopper said its care plan includes a “unique pricing feature” intended to distinguish it from existing device protection offerings. Claims may be registered through Zopper’s customer care number. The company said Z-shield reinforces its strategy of delivering customer-centric protection for premium smartphones.
Zopper, founded in 2011, has established itself as one of India’s leading insurtech players. It connects with insurers via APIs to distribute customised protection plans and was recently reported to have raised substantial funding to expand its reach.
The iPhone 17 series, announced by Apple in September 2025, includes several upgrades which may increase repair or replacement costs.
The standard model features a 6.3-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion refresh rates, a 48MP “Fusion Main” camera, 48MP Ultra Wide lens, and a new A19 chip. Storage now begins at 256GB, eliminating the prior 128GB base option.
These enhancements which includes higher resolution cameras, larger display, more powerful internals mean that device protection plans like Z-shield may become more attractive for customers concerned about repair costs or accidental damage.
