Reliance Jio received over 60 lakh pre-booking for JioPhone, delivery begins in Navratri

Reliance Jio has received over 60 lakh (6 million) pre-order for its first feature JioPhone, company plans to start shipping in the auspicious period of Navratri in September, said a report.

Reliance Jio has received over 60 lakh (6 million) pre-order for its first feature and company plans to start shipping in the auspicious period of Navratri in September, said a report. The pre-booking for JioPhone began on August 24, 5.30 PM and it was suspended on August 26. Within three days of the booking, over 60 lakh JioPhone have been booked.

A report in Business Today suggested that had to temporarily suspend the pre-booking to ensure timely delivery of the already booked phone. Within days of going live to accept pre-booking order, Reliance Jio had suspended pre-booking for its much awaited feature phone, and asked people to register their interest on the Jio.com so that it could intimate them once pre-booking resumes. Earlier some of the reports had suggested that Reliance Jio was looking at registration for more than a hundred million JioPhone, which one of the analyst had predicted that company should easily surpass. However, with the experience of first pre-booking, its seems that Reliance Jio may take some time in touching that 100 million (10 crore) marks. On the first day of pre-booking, the website had slow down and server was not available for sometime, according to reports.

JioPhone is priced at Rs 1500, which is refundable after three year. For the pre-booking a person need to pay Rs 500 and the rest of the amount can be paid later. Reliance Jio will take the remaining balance of Rs 1000 at the time of delivery.  Reliance JioPhone was unveiled at the AGM on 21st July 2017.
