With businesses under pressure to modernise ageing data systems and prepare for wider use of artificial intelligence, Lenovo on Thursday announced new storage and virtualisation products in India aimed at improving how companies manage data and run AI workloads across on-premise and hybrid cloud environments.
The launch includes updated ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile hardware along with advisory and deployment services designed to help organisations replace older storage setups, address performance bottlenecks and manage virtualised workloads more efficiently.
Lenovo said many enterprises still rely on hard-drive-based systems built over the past five years that are not suited to the speeds required for training or running AI models.
Multiple industry surveys have shown that companies remain uncertain about their readiness for AI and analysts say legacy storage is a common limiting factor.
Lenovo said the new products are intended to give businesses more flexibility as they adapt. Sumir Bhatia, who leads the company’s infrastructure business in Asia Pacific, said many firms want “open, modern infrastructure” that can support rapid shifts in virtualisation and AI adoption.
Lenovo also expands iThinkAgile MX
The ThinkSystem DS Series introduces all-flash storage designed to simplify deployment in virtualised environments, while the ThinkAgile FX Series focuses on allowing customers to switch between supported hyperconverged infrastructure platforms without replacing hardware.
Lenovo also expanded its ThinkAgile MX range to support disaggregated external Fibre Channel storage for Microsoft Azure Local.
For AI workloads, Lenovo said it is adding support for Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000 GPU and offering an option for enterprises using Nutanix software to deploy and scale AI models more quickly.
Amit Luthra, who heads Lenovo’s India infrastructure business, said many organisations in India are moving “from experimentation to scaled AI adoption” but face bottlenecks created by older data environments.
The company also introduced new lifecycle services aimed at improving data migration, hybrid-cloud planning and storage reliability.
Lenovo said these services are intended to help customers update systems gradually, maintain compliance requirements and strengthen data protection as AI workloads grow.
