Google launches website to educate value of using certified Android device

To ensure users receive a secure and stable experience, search giant provides certification for devices, and today it has launched a new website called www.android.com/intl/en_in/certified/ to provide more information on the merits of using certified Android devices. Company said that it works with manufacturers across the globe to run hundreds of compatibility tests that ensure devices adhere to the Android security and permissions model. “These tests also verify that the Google apps pre-installed on devices are authentic, and that apps from the Play Store can work as intended,” said Google.

Certified devices also come with Google Play Protect out-of-the-box, providing users with a suite of security features that include automatic device scanning for malware. This provides baseline protection against malware, privacy hacks and more.

Today, hundreds of licensed manufacturers offer a great experience by getting their devices certified. One can find the list of our partners online. Google recommend that while shopping for Android phone or tablet buyer should ask for a certified device or look for the Google Play Protect logo on the box. This helps ensure that users experience the benefits of using a certified device, along with the additional layers of security provided by Play Protect.

Android is an open-source platform that was started with one device, one carrier and one manufacturer in 2008. Today, there are over 2 billion active devices worldwide.

Google says that if a person device is not certified, it means that Goolge has not ensured basic security features or apps from Google and the Play Store can work as intended but it asks the use to contact their device manufacturer or retailer to ask for a fully tested, certified device.

Google says that it provide hundreds of tests to ensure certified devices adhere to the Android security and permissions model and have software builds with recent security updates. “Certified devices are also required to dispatch without pre-installed malware and include Google Play Protect, a suite of security features such as automatic virus scanning and Find My Device. This provides baseline protection against malware, privacy hacks and more,” said Google.
