Firstsource acquires TeleMedik to expand U.S. healthcare business

The Indian business services firm Firstsource said the deal will strengthen its clinical and digital capabilities across U.S. healthcare payer and provider markets.

Firstsource Solutions said on Tuesday it has acquired , a Puerto Rico-based healthcare technology firm, as the Indian outsourcing and services provider looks to strengthen its digital and clinical capabilities in the U.S. healthcare market.

Firstsource did not disclose the financial terms of the deal. The acquisition expands the company’s presence across U.S. healthcare payer and provider networks and strengthens its clinical and utilisation management offerings, it said in a statement.

The move comes as U.S. health plans face rising utilisation rates and cost pressures, alongside a shift towards value-based care models that require closer coordination, personalised care and improved data integration. These changes have increased demand for digital solutions that can support clinical operations while maintaining efficiency.

Firstsource said the acquisition would allow it to combine its automation and capabilities with TeleMedik’s operational footprint in Puerto Rico and across the . The company said the combined offering would support health plans across areas such as prior authorisation, care coordination, disease management and member engagement.

“Firstsource remains committed to driving innovation and disruption in the healthcare space with intelligent automation and emerging technologies,” said Sanjiv Goenka, chairman of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and Firstsource.

He said the acquisition would strengthen the company’s capabilities and expand its reach across the U.S. healthcare industry.

TeleMedik, which provides technology-enabled clinical and operational services, has built a presence supporting health plans and providers in Puerto Rico and the mainland United States. The company’s capabilities are expected to enhance Firstsource’s delivery model, particularly in serving government-backed healthcare programmes such as Medicaid and Medicare Advantage.

“As an organisation with a digital-first mentality, we have worked hard to bring the latest innovations to our members and providers in Puerto Rico and around the U.S.,” said Joaquín Fernández-Quintero, president and CEO, TeleMedik.

Firstsource to scale TeleMedik services

He said joining Firstsource would allow TeleMedik to scale its services by leveraging Firstsource’s global delivery network and technology investments.

Firstsource said the acquisition would help reduce operational risk for health plans and improve continuity of services, while enabling faster deployment of utilisation management and care management capabilities. The company also said it would strengthen its ability to serve Spanish-speaking and underserved populations through TeleMedik’s local expertise.

The acquisition adds to Firstsource’s strategy of expanding its healthcare business in the United States, one of its largest markets. The company provides business management services across sectors including healthcare, banking and , communications and technology.

Healthcare outsourcing providers have increasingly focused on digital platforms and automation as health plans seek to modernise operations, manage costs and respond to regulatory and demographic pressures.

Firstsource said the integration of TeleMedik would support health plans across the full medical management lifecycle, from intake and authorisation through clinical review and ongoing care coordination.
