TTK Prestige, a manufacturer of kitchen appliances, announced a contribution of Rs 10 crore to the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) to establish an endowment. The endowment’s interest will be used to support new research by students and faculty at IIT-Madras, according to a press release issued in Chennai. T T Jagannathan, the company’s chairman, is a 1970 graduate of IIT-Madras, according to the release.

He was awarded a gold medal for academic excellence in mechanical engineering, according to the statement. Mr Jagannathan’s alma mater named an auditorium after him, the release stated. He is credited with establishing the TTK Prestige and for his accomplishments.
Jagannathan personally inaugurated the auditorium on Friday, the statement stated.

Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director of IIT-M, stated, “We are honoured that his name will be given to our auditorium. He serves as an inspiration to our students and budding entrepreneurs “‘.
Jagannathan received the ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award’ in 1996 and was affectionately dubbed the ‘kitchen moghul’ for his TTK Prestige cookware, the release added.
