The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to organise CBSE NEET 2018 examination on May 6 at 10.00 am across the country for the admission into undergraduate’s medical courses. CBSE NEET 2018 replaces the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges themselves. CBSE NEET 2018 is an entrance examination for students who wish to study any undergraduate medical course – MBBS or BDS – in government or private medical colleges in India.
As many as 13.36 lakh students have registered for CBSE NEET 2018 entrance examination. Already reports have started appearing about what will be allowed inside the hall and what type of clothes one should wear for the exam. But there is no need to panic about anything. CBSE NEET 2018 is like any other entrance examination in the country. Board has to follow strict guidelines to achieve the aim of conducting free, fair and smooth examination so that the eligible students join MBBS and BDS courses.
Undergraduate courses at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, Postgraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research JIPMER are outside the NEET’s purview.
Following are some basic rules for CBSE NEET 2018 that candidates must follow.
- The student will be allowed to enter the exam centre after 7.30 am
- No student will be allowed to the exam hall after 9.30 am
- Students must show the admit cards to invigilator for the cross checking before 9.45 am
- Test booklet will be distributed at 9.45 am
- Students will be allowed to open the seal of the booklet and take out the answer sheet after 10 minutes (at 9.55 am)
- The test will begin on 10.00 am and will conclude till 1.00 pm
- Students must carry the following items with them to the exam hall,
- Admit card
- Passport size photograph
- Postcard size photograph
- Students must use blue/black pen, which will be provided at the exam centre
CBSE NEET 2018 Preparation Strategy and Tips
A doctor’s life is not easy and preparing for the medical entrance exam is just the first step to get trained in the field. When you prepare for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), think like a doctor and hone the traits that’ll make you the best in your chosen career.
NEET syllabus is vast but the questions asked in the exam are mostly NCERT-based. If you study regularly, do your revisions, and do sufficient practice – you’ll be easily able to crack the exam. Like a good doctor does what he has to, it is up to you to instill that kind of discipline in yourself.
The only way you can apply what you have learned is to do practice questions immediately after you study a topic. Do as many types of questions as you can. Studying for 12-14 hours at a stretch can lead to mental fatigue. Focus on quality of study rather than just the number of hours put in. It is advisable to take short breaks and relax your mind with light music or games.
A deep study of NCERT books is highly recommended. If you have prepared notes from NCERT, ensure you revise them thoroughly. Since there is a small gap between board and NEET examination, build on your board examination preparation.
With the ocean of study material available, it is common for students to fall prey to a new study material just a few days before the examination. Refrain from doing it. This will not only increase your stress level but also make you difficult to retain information learned at the last moment.
The study sessions should be a mix of theory, problem-solving and revising all previous years’ papers. Equal emphasis should be given to all subjects.
Ensure that you devote ample time in revising important concepts and formulae. This will help you retain information better and boost your confidence.

Stick to the time-limit and try to improve your performance with every mock test. It is better that you take mock tests at the examination timings to make yourself habituated to taking the examination at that time. After every mock test, analyze your performance. Work on your weak areas during the time of revision.
Try to keep calm. Remember this is just another phase of life. Generally speaking, if you solve 100 questions per topic, you’ll be able to crack NEET quite easily.
