Dhaka: The VAT audit detective and investigation department has recovered Tk52 lakh from e-commerce platform Alesha Mart for VAT evasion. On Tuesday, the director-general of the VAT intelligence department confirmed the matter.
Moinul Khan said the company accepted the allegations of VAT evasion raised against Alesha Mart at a hearing held at the VAT intelligence office. Alesha Mart later voluntarily and voluntarily paid Tk52 lakh of VAT evasion to the government treasury and informed the VAT intelligence authorities in writing.
He further said that the report of the case has been sent to the Dhaka North VAT Commissionerate for taking legal action against Alesha Mart for being involved in VAT evasion.
“At the same time, it has been requested to further monitor the overall activities of the organization and check whether there are any other financial irregularities.”
According to VAT intelligence sources, the VAT detectives uncovered a VAT evasion of Tk52 lakh by conducting an operation at Alesha Mart, an e-commerce company located in Kamal Ataturk, Banani.
The operation was led by Munawar Mursalin, assistant director of the VAT Intelligence Department, on June 8 on the basis of specific allegations.
During the operation, VAT detectives find that the company sells goods by taking orders from different types of goods online and delivering them to the buyer through courier service; But the VAT imposed on the commission received by them does not pay the deposit properly.
During the operation, various accounts of the organization were searched and the accounts were seized.
Earlier on August 26, VAT detectives raided the online e-commerce company e-Orange and uncovered VAT evasion of Tk 13 lakh.
