Reliance Jio DTH TV service

Direct-to-Home TV is going to be big bet for Reliance Jio in 2017. Company is expected to launch services with 350+ channels, out of which over 50 will be HD channels, said a report. These services would be similar to what Airtel launched recently launched – Airtel Internet TV set-top box. According to reports, Jio DTH services will be offered in combination with JioTV app, Jio SIM and Jio home broadband connection. The hybrid Reliance Jio DTH set-top box will allow users to get cable channels as well as streaming services on their TV. The DTH service will be integrated with Jio's cloud storage platform and the content will be saved online to stream per user convenience.

Reliance Jio Fibre, is the company's fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband service. It is expected to launch a Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband service very soon. The service will deliver speeds up to 1Gbps. The pilot programme has started. The company may come up with multiple solutions such as home automation, surveillance and security among others on top of FTTH.

Recently an image of 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phones was leaked leading to speculation that 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phones by Reliance Jio is in the offing. So in 2017, Reliance Jio is likely to launch 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phones in India between the price range of ₹999 and ₹1,500. The leaked image shows hardware buttons for MyJio, JioTV, JioCinema, and JioMusic apps. One of the report suggested that VoLTE feature phone would have Spreadtrum chipsets, though talks are said to be on with Qualcomm and MediaTek as well. The feature phones are said.

Smart Home Product from Reliance Jio

Reliance is likely to offer more products for smart home this year. Company already has a brand called Reconnect accessories for this. With fibre-to-the-home in the pipeling, Reliance Jio is working on home automation, surveillance and security products. Jio is also working on a new app called Jio MediaShare that will let user stream content on your mobile devices from PC or laptop. Jio has also developed Chromecast-like devices that let enjoy the same experience on the big screen. The ability to start watching content on one screen and continue on another, seamlessly, is being touted as a big feature.

Jio Money has not seen the kind of promotion one has expected. During the demonetisation drive, mobile payment firm like Paytm and Mobikwik took away all the thunder but that may change in 2017. Jio is likely to roll out more services and bring more firm onto their platform. Soon a user can use mobile to pay for various things services.
