Apple has launched its first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen display in India, with prices starting at Rs 3,49,900 for the 14-inch model and Rs 4,09,900 for the 16-inch variant. The devices, announced during the company’s ‘Pro and Tell’ event, are available for pre-order now and will ship from 6 November 2026.
The new MacBook Pro (Touch) is the first Mac to feature a tandem OLED screen with touch capabilities. The display technology, which Apple calls PROLED XDR, offers up to 2000 nits of peak brightness for both HDR and SDR content, a 120Hz variable refresh rate and a contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1. The screen supports multi-touch gestures including scrolling, pinching, rotating and drawing, and includes a Dynamic Island for Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI.
Higher-end configurations with the M5 Max chip start at Rs 5,49,900 for the 14-inch model and Rs 5,89,900 for the 16-inch version. Buyers can add Nano-Texture Glass, additional CPU and GPU cores, more unified memory and larger storage as optional extras.
Specifications and features
The laptops are powered by Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Both models support up to 128GB of unified memory, a type of RAM that is shared between the processor and graphics unit, and up to 16TB of onboard storage. Apple said the M5 Pro is 10.9 times faster than the M1 Pro, while the M5 Max delivers up to 12 times the performance of the M1 Max.
Apple said the chips feature a GPU with enhanced shader cores and a third-generation ray-tracing engine, a technology that simulates how light interacts with objects for more realistic graphics. The company said this translates into improved performance for 3D modelling applications such as Blender and Unity Editor, as well as AAA gaming.
The 14-inch model weighs approximately 1.38 kg while the 16-inch version weighs around 1.82 kg. Apple said this represents a significant reduction in weight compared to previous Pro models. Both devices claim up to 24 hours of battery life.
