New Delhi — JK Tyre & Industries has introduced passenger car tyres equipped with embedded digital sensors, marking what the company describes as the first such deployment in India.

The product launch places the tyre manufacturer in the growing segment of connected mobility solutions that integrate data monitoring into vehicle components.

The tyres, developed at the company’s facility in Banmore, Madhya Pradesh, contain sensors built into the internal structure. According to JK Tyre, the system monitors air pressure, temperature and early signs of air leakage.

The data is transmitted to a connected interface that can alert users in real time. The company says this capability is intended to support preventive maintenance and reduce the likelihood of vehicle breakdowns linked to tyre performance.

JK Tyre stated that the development aligns with domestic manufacturing and technology objectives. The company also said the tyres have been engineered to support longer service life and fuel efficiency, though no performance benchmarks were specified at the launch.

Chairman and Managing Director Raghupati Singhania said the product represents a step in the company’s ongoing work on connected mobility technologies.

“The launch of our Embedded marks a defining milestone in JK Tyre’s journey,” said Singhania.

“This development is a testament to JK Tyre’s unwavering focus on technological excellence and our vision to lead the future of connected mobility,” he added.

Smart Tyre solutions are an area of increasing focus for automotive suppliers as vehicle systems move toward higher levels of digital integration.

The smart tyres will be distributed through JK Tyre dealerships and initially offered in sizes from 14 to 17 inches. The company said availability for original equipment manufacturers would be explored at a later stage.

JK Tyre has previously worked with tyre pressure monitoring systems linked to cloud-based analytics, first introduced in 2019 through its TREEL sensors. Those solutions have been used across commercial fleets and customers.

The new embedded- tyres differ from external or valve-mounted systems by placing the monitoring mechanism within the tyre structure itself.

The company said it plans continued research and development in connected tyre technology, directed at expanding use cases across passenger and commercial vehicles.
