Japanese consumer electronics brand AKAI has introduced three new soundbar models in India under the Soul Series: SB‑100, SB‑120 Pro and SB‑160. The product line begins at a price of ₹5 990 and integrates Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI ARC, optical, USB and AUX inputs.
The SB‑100 is a 2.1‑channel soundbar featuring a Class D amplifier delivering 100 W RMS output, along with a 5.25‑inch subwoofer and dual 2.25‑inch drivers. It includes an LED display, EQ modes and remote control within a compact 640 × 80 × 85 mm enclosure.
SB‑120 Pro
The SB‑120 Pro ups the specifications with 120 W RMS power, the same 5.25‑inch subwoofer and two 2.25‑inch drivers. Its dimensions are 920 × 80 × 85 mm. It retains Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI ARC, optical, USB and AUX connectivity, along with an LED display, EQ modes and a remote control.
SB‑160
The SB‑160 serves as the flagship of the series. It incorporates a 6.5‑inch subwoofer, four 2.25‑inch drivers and delivers 160 W RMS via a 2.1‑channel Class D amplifier. It supports HDMI ARC, Bluetooth 5.0, optical, USB, AUX, and includes EQ modes, LED display and remote control, in the same 920 × 80 × 85 mm form factor.
SB‑100, SB‑120 Pro, SB‑160 price and availability
The Soul Series soundbars are available through online platforms and offline retail outlets. Pricing starts at ₹5 990.
“Our soundbars allow users to fully experience their entertainment by capturing the unadulterated textures, subtleties, and emotions that artists put into their work. With its deep bass, higher clarity, and flexible connectivity, the Soul Series is a reflection of our commitment to providing high-quality audio for every Indian home,” said Anurag Sharma, Managing Director & CEO of AKAI India.
SB‑100, SB‑120 Pro, SB‑160 technical specifications
Each model in the Soul Series offers EQ modes selectable via remote control and an LED display. The SB‑100 and SB‑120 Pro share the same subwoofer and driver sizes, differing primarily in audio output and length. The SB‑160 enhances both subwoofer and driver configuration to bolster output to 160 W RMS, intended for larger rooms or more demanding audio applications.
Compact soundbars with advanced connectivity such as Bluetooth 5.0 and HDMI ARC are gaining traction in urban Indian homes replacing larger home‑cinema systems. Market data from industry analysts indicate increasing consumer preference for streamlined audio systems that offer flexibility and ease of installation.
AKAI’s entry aligns with offerings from brands such as boAt and Zebronics, which have introduced soundbars in the ₹5 000–₹7 000 price range featuring similar specifications. However AKAI’s inclusion of EQ modes and a Class D amplifier across the range may differentiate it on technical merit, said a company executive.
The SB‑100 is positioned for compact living spaces, the SB‑120 Pro for mid‑sized rooms and the SB‑160 for users seeking higher power output. The company’s strategy appears to provide a tiered product line covering a range of consumer requirements without requiring large-format home‑theatre hardware.
