With the aim to bolster the deeptech education, innovation, and skill development landscape in Jharkhand, the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has forged a strategic alliance with the Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT).
IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, operating as a Section 8 Company, is known for its Technology Innovation Hub on Sensors, Networking, Actuators, and Control Systems (SNACS). It is supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems and is hosted by IIT Madras.
Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras said: “This MoU will propel the Start-up Ecosystem in Jharkhand for creating the culture of innovation, startups, and entrepreneurship. Jharkhand, with its abundant natural resources, presents a unique opportunity for us to collectively enhance the economy and uplift the quality of technical education in the region.”
The collaboration aims to lay the foundation for the development of the Jharkhand University of Technology’s Research Park. It seeks to foster closer ties between academia and industry, thereby promoting research, innovation, and incubation. “Together, we aim to contribute to the advancement of Jharkhand and move towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” added Prof. Kamakoti.
Dr. D.K Singh, reflecting on the partnership, said, “This MoU will create an ecosystem in Jharkhand for establishing a culture of innovation, start-ups, and entrepreneurship. By leveraging our collective strengths, we can significantly improve the economy and the quality of technical education in Jharkhand.”
The partnership is set to leverage IITM Pravartak’s skill development initiatives, foster connections between innovation hubs, explore academic collaborations, and provide support for incubatees. It will also aid industries and academic bodies in seeking collaborations, facilitate tech commercialisation, launch industry-relevant course programs, and participate in curriculum reform initiatives.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras; Dr. MJ Shankar Raman, CEO of IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation; Dr. DK Singh, Vice Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology; and Prof. E. Balagurusamy, former Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Chennai, among others.
