Lenovo’s Billion-Dollar Leap into AI

Lenovo has announced an investment of $1 billion over three years to enhance its AI infrastructure solutions, marking the company’s most significant AI infrastructure investment to date. This move is propelled by a record AI infrastructure revenue of over $2 billion and increased , said the company.

The investment will enable the implementation of new AI capabilities and expand Lenovo’s portfolio of smart devices, infrastructure solutions, and services. The company said that the funding strategy includes an additional $100 million commitment to expand the Lenovo AI Innovators program, which has created over 150 AI-ready solutions in partnership with 45 independent software vendors (ISVs).

As part of its investment, Lenovo also plans to bolster the Lenovo AI Discover Center of Excellence, which provides customers with access to data scientists, AI architects, and engineers to help deploy and scale AI solutions. The service will guide customers to suitable software partners, AI-optimized infrastructure, and responsible AI practices through the Lenovo Responsible AI Committeem, technology firm said.

Lenovo said that its investment will aid industries such as retail, finance, and manufacturing in unlocking valuable insights through AI at the Edge, particularly in India, according to Amit Luthra, MD – India, Lenovo ISG. As the quantity of global data grows exponentially, next-generation infrastructure technologies that deliver data center-like computing to the edge are critical to empowering AI, the company said.

Also, Lenovo is expanding its comprehensive portfolio of AI-ready infrastructure to include over 70 products, with new AI-optimized edge-to-cloud server platforms. The new Lenovo ThinkEdge SE360 V2 is the latest edge server that offers more power to enable AI solutions such as computer vision, , and generative AI.

In the data center space, the new Lenovo ThinkSystem SR675 V3 is touted as the versatile accelerated computing platform on the market, purpose-built for AI with multiple server configurations in a compact 3U footprint. Lenovo is also collaborating with NVIDIA on its latest NVIDIA OVX system for building and operating virtual worlds, delivering powerful performance for NVIDIA Omniverse workloads in the data center.

Apart from infrastructure, Lenovo is implementing AI from the pocket to the cloud, with smart devices and solutions that ensure data science accessibility across all industries in the new hybrid and remote work era, said the company.
