Ahead of the state assembly election, the Uttar Pradesh government said that American tech giants Microsoft, MAQ Software, and PepsiCo have agreed to invest Rs 2,866 crore for setting their units in Noida and Mathura.
As part of the developmental plan, Microsoft and MAQ Software will set up their units in Noida, while PepsiCo is building in Mathura, said an Industrial Department official, adding that three US multinational businesses will employ 7,500 people.
UP’s MSME and Export Promotion Minister, Sidharth Nath Singh, said many US investors interested in investing in Uttar Pradesh are encouraged by these developments and many of them had contacted the state government.
These details were shared during the meeting of executives from the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, many of whom have shown interest in investing in medical equipment, food processing, autos, IT, and digital payments, said a statement.
Among them, companies like Adobe, Amazon, Microsoft, Delphi New Holland, Global Logic, Excel, PepsiCo, Synopsis and Cargill are already operating in India while Microsoft, MACQ Software Noida and PepsiCo have stepped up efforts to set up their units in UP.
The state government said that Microsoft has been given 60,000 sqm. of property in Noida to build its ‘biggest’ office in India, employing 3500 employees. The company has informed the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority that it will begin operations within five years. The company’s major unit is now at Gachi Baoli, Hyderabad.
MAQ India Private Limited has also been granted 16,350 sq. m. of land in Noida’s Sector-145. It will invest Rs 252 crore in the facility, which would employ 2500 employees.
PepsiCo is building a potato chip plant in Kosi Kalan, Mathura. The facility, which would cost over Rs 800 crore, is expected to start production this year. This project will directly or indirectly employ 1500 people. The chips will be made from potatoes grown by local farmers, said the state government.
