Bangladesh to implement ‘One country 1 rate’ on broadband from September

The announcement was made at the inaugural ceremony of all ISPs and private NTTN and IIG tariffs for broadband internet across the country on Thursday (August 12) afternoon.

Dhaka: ‘‘ internet service is going to be launched across the country from September 1. The broadband internet will be available at the same price across the country. One rate has been fixed everywhere in town and village.

The announcement was made at the inaugural ceremony of all ISPs and private NTTN and IIG tariffs for broadband internet across the country on Thursday (August 12) afternoon.

The Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa was present as the chief guest.

Responding to a question from reporters, Shyam Sundar Sikder, chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (), said the tariff was inaugurated today. The service will be launched on September 1.

Five Mbps Tk500, 10 Mbps 800, and 20 Mbps will be available at Tk1,200 across the country. Internet service providers will ensure this service.

Post and Telecommunications Secretary Afzal Hossain, BTRC Vice-Chairman Maitra, Commissioner (Legal and Licensing) Abu Syed Dilzar Hossain, ISPAB President Aminul Hakim, General Secretary Imdadul Haque, and many others were present on the occasion.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said that the telecom companies are earning good income even during this time. Telecom companies can provide better services if they want.

BTRC and ministry are working in the interest of the common people, he added.
