64% women in Bangladesh have access to mobile internet: GSMA

Dhaka — Approximately 64% of adult women in Bangladesh using mobile internet. Unlike women, 84% of men in Bangladesh have internet connections on their mobile phones.

This information has been published in the report published by Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA) the global organization of the mobile telecommunication industry. According to the report, women in Bangladesh, Algeria, and Pakistan face family barriers in using mobile phones.

One of the elements of this technological advancement of information is unimaginable without the internet. There is nothing that is not available in the vast ocean of information on the Internet. At present, the small smartphone is making the internet system more accessible to people.

A mobile phone connected to the internet can change lives. In developing countries, there is still a huge gap in the access rate for men and women. However, it has been declining in the last few years.

The fourth annual ‘GSMA Mobile Gender Gap Report ‘ report was recently published. According to the report on mobile internet awareness, 75% of men and 66% of women in Bangladesh are aware of mobile internet, but not everyone uses it. Only 33% of men and 19% of women use their awareness.

According to the report, Indian men lag behind Bangladesh in mobile internet usage (79%) but women are ahead. 67% of women in the country use mobile internet. And Pakistan lags behind and Bangladesh in Asia. 78% of men in the country own mobile phones and they use . The rate of women there is 52%.

According to the GSMA report, there is a gender gap in mobile ownership in Bangladesh according to age. The gender gap between the ages of 18 and 24 is 17 %. In the meantime, 39 % fewer women use mobile internet than men this age. Among those over the age of 55, the gender gap is 46 %.

82 % fewer women use mobile internet than men this age. The survey covered 8 low- and middle-income countries. Data were collected in face-to-face interviews with participants. For the survey, 1,000 men and women aged 18 and over were selected from countries other than India. 2 thousand people have been taken from India.
