South Korean consumer electronics firm Samsung is all set to launch its flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ today in India. These smartphone were launched last month in other region including USA.
According to sources, to be launched Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in India will be available with Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC which is different from what company is offering in US market. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC variants, a slightly up in performance, will only be available in select regions including the US.
Both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are identical smartphones. But they have different dimensions, battery capacity, and screen size etc.
While the Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch QHD+ (1440×2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display, the Galaxy S8+ comes with a 6.2-inch QHD+ (1440×2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display. Both have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ come with 4GB of RAM, with 64GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded via microSD card up to 256GB.
On the camera front, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones sport a 12-megapixel ‘Dual Pixel’ rear cameras with optical image stabilisation and an f/1.7 aperture and a 8-megapixel front cameras with autofocus on board as well, also featuring an f/1.7 aperture.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 comes with all connectivity options. It has 4G LTE (Cat. 16), Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz, 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, and GPS.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ support wireless charging as well as fast charging. They are powered by 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries respectively. The Galaxy S8 measures 148.9×68.1x8mm and weighs 155 grams. The Galaxy S8+ measures 159.5×73.4×8.1mm and weighs 173 grams.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 was priced as $720 (about ₹46,700) and the Galaxy S8+ at $840 (₹54,500). The price may be little higher in India.
