Tamil Nadu to host ‘Umagine’ tech summit in September

government is set to host ‘Asia's largest technology and Innovation Summit' the Umagine from September 21-23 in Chennai. According to the state government, the inaugural edition of the three-day summit will bring together key players of the technology ecosystem including entrepreneurs, investors, academics, and policymakers from around the world.

This will be Umagine's flagship summit in TN which is likely to be held annually starting this year.

During the summit ‘Umagine' aims to showcase and strengthen the technology ecosystem in Tamil Nadu, and will help promote deep-tech companies in the state.

The inaugural edition of the three-day summit will bring together key players of the technology ecosystem including entrepreneurs, investors, academics, and policymakers from around the world.

“Umagine will be a platform for its community of tech-driven companies to flourish both in and out of state in line with the vision of being the Knowledge Capital of the world. It envisages a vibrant ecosystem that will make Tamil Nadu a destination of choice for both global and young tech companies and to build technologies of the future,” a statement from the state IT department, said.

Umagine will focus on emerging technologies including ClimateTech, Healthtech, Edtech, Agritech, Web 3.0 and Deep Tech, Smart Infrastructure, Smart and Green Manufacturing, Biotech, Platforms and Gig Economy, Creative Industry and Social Entrepreneurship.

Currently, Umagine is in the process of reaching out to global companies on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting at the Umagine Lounge in Davos.

Mind & Mom, Impactree, Kandee Factory, Mage Data, Twixor, Aquaconnect, Veehive, and Raptee , are eight tech companies from Chennai whose founders are in Davos to represent the state.

STMicro quarterly profit declines by 18.4% owing to slow demand
