Accenture employee headcount in India touches 3 lakh

Accenture now employs over 3 lakh people in India, out of a global workforce of almost 7 lakh. In India, women account for 47% of the workforce.

With almost half of its entire workforce Indian, the services consultant, is giving its Indian tech majors a run for the money in competing for talent. The company that employs about 3 lakh Indians have recently raised its revenue growth guidance for the year (ending August) to 24%-26%, from the previously announced 19%-22%.

Among the other global IT services companies with a considerable presence of Indian talent include Cognizant which has over 2 lakh employees in the country, Capgemini has over 1.5 lakh, IBM has over 1 lakh, and DXC over 40,000.

Accenture now has about 3 lakh employees in , out of the nearly 7 lakh it has globally. “We are very fortunate to have great talent and an amazing group of people of 300,000 in India and we truly appreciate the government's focus on making India a great place to do business,” Accenture CEO Julie Sweet said in a video message tweeted from Union Ministry of Finance tweeter handle.

A finance ministry tweet quoted Julie as saying that Accenture is adding a presence in more tier-II cities in India and focusing on upskilling talent to prepare for emerging opportunities.

According to Julie, 47% of Accenture's workforce in India are women. “The minister (Sitharaman) is very committed to helping businesses in India. We get to meet with her regularly through our association with Nasscom and it's just a sign of how much India really works to make sure that they are listening to the business community, they are supporting the business community, and helping us as we continue to invest,” Julie said.
