My colour is not saffron, tells Kamal Hassan on joining BJP

Talking to reporters after meeting the Kerala Chief Minister in Thiruvananthapuram, Kamal Hassan said “My colour is obviously seen over the 40 years I have been working in cinema, definitely it's not saffron.”

Film star Kamal Haasan about whom speculation is rife that he may join politics hinted today that he will not join saffron party or its allies. Talking to reporters after meeting the Kerala Chief Minister in Thiruvananthapuram, he said “My colour is obviously seen over the 40 years I have been working in cinema, definitely ‘s not saffron.”

On joining politics, he said “I have been talking to Kerala CM about it, taking advice, will meet more politicians before I make my call.” Hassan met the Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan today at the Cliff House. He praised the work done Kerala government. He said Kerala is a model to emulate across the country.

On meeting Kerala CM he said, his best friends are in left and he appreciate them but more important is to work for the people, irrespective of any political ideology. “I wanted to come to Kerala during last Onam itself. I see it as an opportunity to learn from the experiences of Pinarayi Vijayan,” Haasan said after the meeting Kerala CM.

On the other hand, Kerala CM said that it was merely a friendly meeting. “We meet whenever he comes to Thiruvananthapuram. However, this is the first time, that he is visiting since I became the CM,” he said. The chief minister told that both of them held discussion on range of issue including the political situation in south India and Tamilnadu.

In recent past, Haasan has been criticising the AIADMK government on . Earlier, speaking at a wedding reception organised by Thangavel, all-India treasurer of his fans’ association, he had said people should not consider it as just a wedding function but an inauguration function (for politics), reported Hindu.

On , he has urged his fans to continue working the way they had done in the past, Haasan said when the time is right, they should start the journey towards the fort (Fort St. George). And that journey should be in such a way that even a poor man would be able to make it to the fort. Haasan said that he would only urge his fans to continue protesting, but with clean hands.

In the past, Haasan had raised corruption allegations against the AIADMK government in . The actor had also asked his fans to use social media to lodge complaints about corruption.
