Optiemus Electronics has announced its expansion into the telecom equipment manufacturing sector, a move that aligns with its ongoing efforts to be part of India’s enhanced domestic production capabilities in line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
The company is collaborating with Tejas Networks, a telecom and networking products manufacturer, to produce a variety of telecom equipment, including 4G Base Band Units, Remote Radio Heads, Optical Network Terminals (ONT), Optical Network Units (ONU), broadband switches, and routers at its Noida facility.
This expansion comes at a time when India is actively pursuing self-reliance in telecom equipment manufacturing, aiming to reduce its dependency on imports and strengthen its position as a global electronics manufacturing hub.
A Gururaj, Managing Director, Optiemus Electronics, said, “It is a momentous occasion as we expand our manufacturing capabilities to foray into the growing industry of telecom equipment manufacturing. Tejas Networks stands on a strong foundation to make significant strides in domestic manufacturing of telecom equipment, and we are ready to support them in this endeavor to take another leap towards the ‘Make in India’ initiative in telecom manufacturing in India.”
Tejas Networks, with its experience in the telecom ecosystem, has been a key contributor to the indigenous design and manufacture of telecom equipment.
V Sembian, Chief Supply Chain Officer of Tejas Networks, said, “Tejas has been at the forefront of indigenous telecom equipment design and manufacturing for a long time in India. In our continuous pursuance towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, adding Optiemus as one of our manufacturing partners will provide a boost to the domestic manufacturing of telecom products.”
The government has been actively promoting indigenous manufacturing, particularly in the telecom sector, which has seen rapid growth under various initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. In fact, India’s telecom equipment production has already exceeded Rs 50,000 crore, with exports contributing over Rs 10,500 crore, reflecting the sector’s expanding global footprint.
