Founded by Casey Rosenthal, an engineering veteran of Netflix and Toni de la Fuente, a stalwart in the open source community, Prowler focuses on leveraging open-source technology and fostering community collaboration to address cloud security challenges.

“The support from Decibel underscores the critical transition towards an open cloud security paradigm. With this backing, Prowler will further empower security professionals, granting them the autonomy they require to safeguard our digital future,” Prowler CEO Casey Rosenthal said.

Since its inception in 2016, the company said it has specialised in AWS security, offering services such as assessments, audits, incident response, and continuous monitoring.

Cloud security firm integrated SaaS platform features over 300 controls compatible with various security frameworks. The platform, available on the AWS Marketplace, supports continuous monitoring and provides personalised support and integrations. “The new investment aims to enhance these capabilities and introduce new features by 2024,” Prowler asserted.

Jon Sakoda, Partner, Decibel VC, stated: “Their approach with Prowler isn't just forward-thinking; it's foundational for the next phase of secure, transparent cloud environments. Our decision to invest in Prowler reflects our deep belief in their mission, the team's capabilities, and the significant role they play in shaping the future of cloud computing.”

By integrating Prowler Pro with Prowler Open Source, the company aims to offer a comprehensive solution that combines customisation with simplicity and efficiency, thus empowering security professionals with tools that meet their needs effectively, said cloud security firm.

“It's about empowering professionals with tools that are not just powerful, but also intuitively align with their security needs,” Toni de la Fuente, CTO of Prowler, said, outlining the importance of community-driven cloud security in enterprise security strategies.
