IIT Kanpur-backed Dream Aerospace raises ₹3 crore in pre-seed funding from IPV

Dream Aerospace raises ₹3 crore pre-seed funding led by IPV to advance indigenous satellite propulsion technology and establish testing facilities.

, an aerospace and defence startup, has raised ₹3 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). The funding will accelerate the development of the company’s ATOM Thruster, validate its propulsion system, and establish an in-house high-altitude test facility, said a statement.

Founded in 2022 by Hari Krishnan KJ and Rogith S, Dream Aerospace focuses on developing high-performance and cost-effective propulsion systems tailored to diverse satellite mission requirements. The company said it leverages indigenous technology to align with India’s “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives, positioning itself as a key player in both commercial and defence applications.

The co-founders bring significant expertise to the venture. Hari, a Ph.D. candidate in propulsion at , contributes his technical knowledge, while Rogith, an aerospace engineering graduate from Hindustan University, oversees operational strategies. Together, they aim to address the increasing demand for efficient and scalable propulsion systems.

Mitesh Shah, co-founder of Inflection Point Ventures, said, “Dream Aerospace is addressing critical challenges in the aerospace industry by offering cost-effective and customisable propulsion solutions. Their focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability sets them apart in the growing space technology sector.”

The company plans to shift from production to setting up in-house manufacturing facilities, with an annual capacity of 40–50 thrusters. This move is intended to meet market demands and ensure scalability.

Dream Aerospace has also received support through grants and recognitions, including TANSEED 4.0, Chunauti 5.0, and the Nidhi Prayas Program. The startup has been acknowledged with awards such as “Best On-Campus Startup of the Year” at the Indian Mobile Congress 2023 and “Eureka Track Winner” at IIT Bombay.

The global market for satellite propulsion systems is projected to grow from $9.66 billion in 2023 to $19.74 billion by 2028, presenting significant opportunities for the company.
