Union government has appointed senior IAS officerAlkesh Kumar Sharma as Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (Meity). Sharma is currently serving as the Secretary (Coordination), of the Cabinet Secretariat.
He succeeds Ajay Prakash Sawhney, who superannuated on March 31. Sharma is a Kerala cadre, 1990 batch IAS officer. Since Sawhney’s departure, the post of secretary MeitY has been assigned as an additional charge to Telecom secretary K Rajaraman.
Other significant appointments include the appointment of Gyanesh Kumar as Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation. Kumar is currently the Secretary, of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. He is a 1988-batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre.
