Top IAS Alkesh Kumar Sharma is new MeitY Secretary

While top IAS Alkesh Kumar Sharma will head MeitY, S Radha Chauhan, a 1988-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, to succeed Pradip Kumar Tripathi as DoPT Secretary.

Union government has appointed senior Alkesh Kumar Sharma as Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information (Meity). Sharma is currently serving as the Secretary (Coordination), of the Cabinet Secretariat.

He succeeds Ajay Prakash Sawhney, who superannuated on March 31. Sharma is a Kerala cadre, 1990 batch IAS officer. Since Sawhney’s departure, the post of secretary MeitY has been assigned as an additional charge to secretary K Rajaraman.

Other significant appointments include the appointment of Gyanesh Kumar as Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation. Kumar is currently the Secretary, of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. He is a 1988-batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre.

He has been appointed Cooperation Secretary in place of Devendra Kumar Singh, who has been named Secretary-General of the National Human Rights Commission.

Additionally, Pradip Kumar Tripathi, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), has been appointed Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, (Coordination), in place of Sharma.

S Radha Chauhan to be the new DoPT Secretary

S Radha Chauhan, a 1988-batch IAS officer from the cadre, will succeed Tripathi as DoPT Secretary.

Neel Kamal Darbari, Managing Director, Small Farmers’ Agri-Business Consortium, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has been appointed chairperson of the National Authority Chemical Weapons Convention, with the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India.

Sanjay Kumar, an IAS officer from the 1990 batch currently serving in his cadre state of Bihar, will serve as Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs.

S K G Rahate, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Power, has been appointed Secretary in the Ministry of Law and Justice’s Department of Justice.
