Manipur CM N Biren Singh keeps IT department, home in new govt

In a newly formed government, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has kept departments of home, personnel and administrative reforms, confidential and cabinet, vigilance and anti-corruption, information and technology, and planning to himself.

Along with the chief minister, six ministers of the new state government were assigned portfolios. The governor appointed the new ministers “on the advice of the chief minister,” according to a notification issued by the state chief secretary on Sunday.

Thongam Biswajit Singh has been assigned the power, forest, environment, and , , and science and technology departments.

Yumnam Khemchand Singh was appointed to the municipal administration, housing and , rural development and panchayati raj, and education departments, according to the notification.

Konthoujam Govindas Singh, who retained his traditional Bishnupur seat in Bishnupur district for a seventh term, has been assigned the departments of public works and youth affairs and sports.

Nemcha Kipgen, the country’s sole female minister, was appointed to the textile, and industry, and cooperation ministries. The NPF has assigned Awangbow Newmai the departments of water resources, relief, and disaster management.
