New Delhi — The three additional judges of Gauhati High Court — Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi, Justice Nani Tagia, and Justice Manish Choudhury have been elevated as the Gauhati High Court judge.
A notification to this effect was issued on Friday by central government’s Department of Justice under the Ministry of law and Justice.
The notification read: “The President in the exercise of the power conferred by clause (l) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, has appointed Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi, Justice Nani Tagia, and Justice Manish Choudhury, the additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court, as Judges of the Gauhati High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.
According to the ministry, Justice Choudhury was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court on January 18, 2019, whereas Justices Medhi and Tagia were appointed on November 19, 2018.
Further, while Justice Choudhury obtained his degree in Law from the Gauhati University. He enrolled himself in the Bar Council of Assam in August 1999, Justice Medhi obtained his degree in Law from the Delhi University and enrolled himself as an Advocate for the North East Bar Council in November 1994.
Justice Tagia obtained his degree in Law from Delhi University. He was designated as senior advocate by the Gauhati High Court in August 2014.
