The company claims this design delivers a 35% improvement in single-core performance and a 28% boost in multi-core performance compared to its predecessor, enabling smoother performance in demanding applications like multitasking and editing.

In gaming, MediaTek states that the chip’s 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU offers up to 40% faster raytracing performance and supports PC-level graphics features. The GPU also reportedly delivers a 41% peak performance increase with up to 44% greater efficiency compared to earlier models.

Oppo adds that the Find X8 series includes a custom cooling system to ensure consistent, high frame rates even at maximum graphics settings.

Dr. Yenchi Lee, General Manager, MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit, described the Dimensity 9400 as a “game-changing chipset,” emphasising its ability to deliver “class-leading power and incredible performance.”

Oppos’s Vice President, Andy Wu, called the Find X8 series a device that “puts ultra-grade gaming, imaging, and smoothness in customers’ hands,” crediting the chipset as a critical component of this achievement.

MediaTek said the Dimensity 9400 is built on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, making it up to 40% more power-efficient than its predecessor. Oppo has matched this efficiency with its silicon-carbon battery technology, which the company asserts will enable multi-day battery life without compromising on performance.

AI capabilities are also a key focus, with MediaTek highlighting its 8th Generation NPU, which the company says offers 80% faster performance for generative AI tasks while being 35% more power efficient.

Oppo has collaborated with MediaTek to integrate Google Gemini Nano’s AI-powered language features in Google Messages, enabling context-aware replies in different tones and languages. MediaTek attributes these advancements to the powerful on-device AI capabilities of the Dimensity 9400.

For photography, MediaTek claims its Imagiq 1090 ISP works seamlessly with Oppo”s Hasselblad Master Camera System to enhance zoom, low-light performance, and HDR video quality. The company also states that the chipset uses 14% less power when shooting at 60fps, catering to content creators.

In connectivity, MediaTek has introduced its AI LinkBoost technology and Xtra Range 3.0, which the company says improve stability and Wi-Fi range by up to 30 metres. OPPO asserts that these features will provide users with interruption-free connectivity in challenging environments, such as crowded stadiums or during gaming.

The Oppo Find X8 series is set to be officially launched at a global event in Bali, Indonesia, on November 21, 2024 where more details about the devices and the capabilities of the Dimensity 9400 chipset are expected to be revealed.

The devices most likely will be launched in India soon after the global rollout, with availability projected by early December 2024.
