SITA has won a multi-million contract from Floripa Airport for its advanced Airport Management solution. Located on the island of Santa Catarina, a famous holiday destination in ‘s Florianópolis-Hercílio Luz International Airport (FLN) currently handles close to four million passengers a year but will double capacity as part of a major expansion plan.

SITA will help Floripa Airport to get access to real-time to better anticipate, plan and control operations, assigning assets and resources more effectively. SITA will also deploy its AirportVision, a flight information display system. The combination of these technologies will help Floripa Airport improve operations and passenger services.

It is investing more than $160 million to upgrade the airport, including building a new terminal, four times bigger than the current one, which is due to open October 2019. With this investment, FLN’s capacity will double to eight million passengers per year, and new international routes will be added to the existing network.

“Our aim is to transform Florianópolis Airport into a world-class facility and maximize its growth potential. We can only do that with world-class technology. SITA is enabling us to make the whole airport more efficient by automating important functions, which in turn will allow us to streamline our decision-making and resource allocation. The result will be a better service for airlines, including faster turnaround and, importantly, a better overall passenger experience,” said Tobias Markert, of Floripa Airport.

Zeneva based SITA is already providing airport management solutions to other Zurich group airports – Curaçao International Airport and El Dorado International Airport, in Bogota.
