Persistent Systems appoints Sandeep Kalra as new CEO

IT consulting firm has appointed as a new replacing Christopher O'Connor's who had moved on in August this year. Kalra has joined in May 2019 from HARMAN Connected Services (HCS).

Before this elevation, Kalra was working as the Executive Director and President of the Technology Services Unit TSU, responsible for setting the strategic direction as well as managing the sales and delivery functions for the unit.

Persistent Systems which is celebrating 30th anniversary announced the on Friday while announcing results for the quarter ended September 30, 2020.

“We are looking forward to the next phase of our growth journey, as Sandeep Kalra takes over the CEO role. I wish him all the best and look forward to continuing to work with him on the future of Persistent,” said , Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Persistent Systems.

The company said that it has achieved significant milestones, for the first time ever exceeding ₹1000 crore in revenue and ₹100 crore in profit in one quarter.

The quarterly net profit for the company has increased by 18.5% year-on-year to Rs 102 crore. Revenue in the second-quarter stood at Rs 1,007 crore, up 13.9% from a year ago. In dollar terms, revenue was higher by 8.4% at $136.09 million.

“We delivered yet another strong quarter on the back of our strong Q1. Our continued focus on delivery excellence and expanding the value of our expertise across our accounts were the key drivers for this growth,” said the newly appointed CEO.

Persistent Systems has recently entered into an agreement to acquire Palo Alto, CA-based CAPIOT, including its subsidiaries in Australia, India and Singapore. The company specializes in enterprise integration with expertise in MuleSoft, Red Hat and TIBCO.

Alo, focusing on hybrid cloud, Persistent Systems has set up Center of Excellence (CoE) for Kubernetes-based containerization platform, Red Hat OpenShift to support clients in managing their workload portability across public cloud providers like AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and IBM Cloud.

STMicro quarterly profit declines by 18.4% owing to slow demand

European chipmaker STMicroelectronics reported net revenues of $3.47 billion, marking an 18.4% decline compared to the same period last year. This downturn was particularly noticeable in the automotive and industrial sectors, although gains in personal electronics provided some balance.
