Sify opens AI-Hub data centre in Lucknow

Sify facility, located within the HCL IT City campus on Sultanpur Road, will be developed in four phases, with the first phase set to become operational by June 2025.

Sify Infinit Spaces Limited has announced the launch of its AI-Hub Data Centre in Lucknow, marking a step towards strengthening data infrastructure in northern India. The facility, located within the HCL IT City campus on Sultanpur Road, will be developed in four phases, with the first phase set to become operational by June 2025.

Sify Infinit Spaces Limited is a data center services company and a subsidiary of Limited, which provides ICT (Integrated Communication Technologies) solutions.

According to the company, the data centre is strategically positioned near multinational corporations operating in the and Lucknow region and is designed to cater to enterprise data processing needs. It incorporates edge caching technology, which utilises hardware and software components to optimise computing response times.

During the ground-breaking ceremony, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh stressed on the role of the facility in the state’s broader technological growth plans. “The government is building an AI City in Lucknow and the stable investment environment aligns with the vision of realising Uttar Pradesh’s AI potential. Sify’s expansion into Lucknow through this AI Hub Edge Data Centre is a key milestone in achieving this vision,” he said.

Raju Vegesna, Chairman, Sify Technologies, said:  “We are pleased to enable Lucknow to join the list of AI-ready cities. This facility is in line with our investment goals and also reflects the state government’s ambition of making Uttar Pradesh the data centre hub of North India. Sify is committed to contributing to this vision.”

The launch of the AI-Hub Data Centre comes amid increasing demand for infrastructure in India, with Uttar Pradesh positioning itself as a key player in the data centre industry. The state government has been promoting policies to attract investment in technology and artificial intelligence, aiming to make the region a competitive destination for enterprises looking to expand their digital operations.

In addition to Sify Infinit Spaces’ investment, several other companies have committed to establishing data centres in Uttar Pradesh. Yotta Data Services, Web Werks, STT Global Data Centres and others have announced plans to set up facilities in the state, aiming to position Uttar Pradesh as a competitive hub for data infrastructure alongside cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
