Enterprises are moving toward an AI-native operating model in which intelligence is built into every layer of digital transformation, as businesses prepare for the next phase of technology adoption in 2026, according to STL Digital CEO Naveen Bolalingappa.
Bolalingappa said companies are no longer treating artificial intelligence as an add-on or a pilot project, but as a core capability spanning engineering, operations, customer experience and decision-making.
“As we move into 2026, enterprises are shifting to an AI-native world where intelligence is embedded into every facet of digital transformation,” he said.
This transition is taking place alongside the convergence of cloud, hybrid and edge computing environments. Bolalingappa said these ecosystems are increasingly merging, allowing data to move more intelligently across systems while changing how organisations think about security.
“Security models are becoming predictive and preventive rather than reactive,” he said, reflecting the growing complexity of distributed data and infrastructure.
The shift comes as enterprises face pressure to demonstrate clear returns from technology spending. Rather than prioritising scale or manpower, companies are increasingly seeking outcome-focused and domain-specific solutions.
AI pilots to AI-native operations
“Clients increasingly look for measurable value and industry depth instead of scale or manpower,” Bolalingappa said, pointing to a broader re-evaluation of traditional IT services models.
On how low-code, no-code platforms and AI agents are reshaping innovation inside organisations, he said, these tools are enabling business users to participate directly in building digital solutions, reducing reliance on central IT teams for every change.
“With low code, no code, and AI agents enabling business users to participate directly in innovation, IT teams will take on the role of strategic enablers,” he said, adding that their focus will increasingly be on platform governance and responsible AI practices.
According to Bolalingappa, this evolution places greater emphasis on trust, transparency and sustainability in enterprise technology choices. He said these factors are becoming non-negotiable as companies select long-term partners and platforms in an environment of rising regulatory scrutiny and cyber risk.
“At STL Digital, we believe the way forward lies in bringing together intelligence, agility and trust,” Bolalingappa said. He added that combining AI, cloud, cybersecurity and engineering capabilities can help enterprises adopt new technologies while remaining aligned with real business outcomes.
